Greetings and welcome to Spreading the Health, my blog about living a healthy life. I have a little “blogging experience,” if you will, for I started Help Meghan Run in April 2009 to chronicle my journey as I trained for my first half marathon and raised money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I’m 20 years old, and I don’t know exactly what I want to do with my life yet. But everyone tells me that’s okay, and I tend to agree with them. If you don’t know what to do either, that’s cool. We can be friends. (If you’re one of the lucky ones who have got it figured out, well, we can be friends, too. But please give away your secrets.)

I may not know what I want to do, but I do know how I want to live my life. One of my favorite quotes (that’s one thing to know—I’m a quote fiend) is, “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.” Thanks to Henry David Thoreau for that little gem. I think about it often.

I want to wake up every day and love what I do for a living. I don’t expect everything to be easy and fun all the time, of course, but I want–I need–to enjoy what I’m doing and feel that I’m making a difference. Continuing to figure out how I want to live and how I want to feel helps me figure out how I can do it. I’m also all about passion. I love exploring my own (food, fitness, and happiness) and using those to help others, preferably through the written word if I can help it.

Some (material) things I love: magazines, Gmail, oatmeal, TV shows, granola, sports.

Some (nonmaterial) things I love: singing along terribly to anything, lingering over a long meal with friends, hugs, coming home, naps.

  1. Loove your blog! I’m currently in graduate school to become an RD and plan to go into Nutrition Communications as well! Looking forward to reading more from you! … and that Winnie the Pooh quote is amazing 🙂

    Meghan, this blog is great! I share your passions for oatmeal and almond butter and so many other glorious breakfast (or really anytime) foods. Oh also I’m in your kitchen and you’re preparing food. How appropriate!! (Make me a sandwich woman! … just kidding! But seriously.)
